Hispanic Family Mentoring Program

Edith M. attended three of the four Hispanic Family Mentoring Program Workshops at Wiley in late October with fellow parents. She says that she benefited from the program, and as a result, is now more actively involved in her children’s schools. On January 9th, 2008, more than two months after workshops were held at Wiley, Edith stopped by the COS office, participated in her remaining workshop, and graduated from HFMP. She would like to mentor families in her community.

The Hispanic Family Mentoring Program (HFMP) incentives motivate program participants to refer friends and family to the program. Laticia, a graduate of HFMP, will be receiving $80 for her efforts and success at encouraging four parents to participate in HFMP workshops that were held at Hall-Woodward Elementary in early December 2007.

“This is J. R. with the Toyota Family Literacy Program at Latham and Old Town. The parents at both schools told me that they really enjoyed the "graduation" ceremony that you did this week. Thanks for all that you are doing.” -10/26/2007
